WASTE & RECYCLING COLLECTION

Pick-up times for curbside recycling and garbage may vary from week to week, therefore our contractors have requested that residents have their recyclables and waste at the curbside by 7:00 a.m. on their scheduled day for curbside collection.

Note "Recycle pickup dates reside on the same date as regular garbage pickup "Some roads may differ"

Monday, September 6 – Will run Monday, September 13

Monday, December 27 - Will run as usual


Bag Limit

Two (2) bags per dwelling unit per week, weighing not more than 40 lbs. each, will be picked up.
(Bag Tags are not necessary for these items)

Bag Tags

Blue tags may be used for extra items (anything over the two bag limit) for disposal.
Additional tags may be purchased for $1.00 each at the Waste Disposal Site and at the Municipal Office.

Waste Site Fees

Residential Waste taken directly to the Waste Disposal Site without bag tags will be charged at:

    • $75 per metric tonne, minimum charge of $5 which includes:
    • E-Waste
    • Painted and Pressure Treated Wood
    • Loose Plastics and Insulation
    • Upholstered Furniture and Mattresses
    • Large Wood and Stumps
    • Household Waste
    • Unpainted Lumber
    • Refrigeration Units $18
    • Tires with Rims $5 each 

No Charge Items:

    • All Steel (appliances, vehicles, etc)
    • Brush and Leaves
    • Tires without Rims

Garbage must be sorted in different areas at the Landfill Site

Commercial and Demolition Waste will be charged at:

  • $125 per metric tonne, minimum $5 charge
  • Shingles and drywall $125 per metric tonne

 There will be a minimum charge of $5 for any public weighing

 CURBSIDE BLUE BOX RECYCLING PROGRAM

Boxboard

Includes single layer boxes (e.g. shoe, cereal, detergent), egg cartons, tubes, brown paper bags and manilla envelopes. FLATTEN, remove any food and liner bags and stuff into large boxboard box. DO NOT include milk cartons, laminated cartons (frozen food), drinking boxes or waxed paper.

Corrugated Cardboard

Must be flattened and tied in bundles no larger than 30"x30"x8"next to your blue box. No waxed or coated boxes.

Plastics

NEW as of June 1, 2010 all #1 and #2 containers are picked up curbside (blue bin). No lids or pails. Rinse.

NOTE - #3 through #7 can be taken to the landfill where they will be recycled.  This does not include styrofoam and films.

Metal and Aluminum Cans

Place loose in blue box. Includes food and beverage, empty paint cans (lid removed), empty aerosol and crushed clean aluminum foil and trays.

Glass Bottles and Jars

Place loose in blue box. Food and beverage containers only. DO NOT include broken glass, windows, ceramics, pyrex, light bulbs or drinking glasses.

Newspaper, Magazines and Mixed Household Paper

Place in paper bag beside blue box. Keep separate from boxboard and cardboard.

DO NOT include hardcover books, manilla envelopes, construction paper, wrapping paper, carbons, laminates or envelopes with windows
